2021 Michelin Bib Gourmand Awards: The UWS Restaurants

Last modified on April 30th, 2024

Winners for the 2021 Michelin Bib Gourmand NYC awards were just announced, and the list includes three Upper West Side restaurants. These awards identify the best affordable restaurants in NYC.

Michelin’s Bib Gourmands were introduced in 1997. The awards are given to restaurants by Michelin inspectors, whose main criteria are restaurants which offer a full menu of a starter, main course and dessert, “making it possible to order two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for around $40 or less (tax and gratuity not included).”

This year, a total of 118 restaurants made the list.

Here were the UWS winners:

Miss Mamie’s Spoonbread Too at 366 West 110th Street, between Manhattan and Columbus Avenues. “Despite its somewhat sophisticated appearance, the kitchen still embraces such tried-and-true classics as baked turkey wings, homemade meatloaf, Louisiana catfish, and a creamy red velvet cake for dessert,” Michelin writes. spoonbreadinc.com, (212) 865-6744.

Atlas Kitchen at 258 West 109th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam. The Chinese restaurant first opened in October 2018, and has since gained lots of popularity and positive press. atlaskitchennyc.com, (646) 928-0522.

Amelie at 566 Amsterdam Avenue, between 87th and 88th Streets. The French wine bar opened in December 2017. ameliewinebar.com, (646) 422-7167.

Both Atlas Kitchen and Amelie also made the list in 2020.

Jin Ramen was also on the list, but for its location near 125th Street. Jin Ramen’s UWS location can be found at 462 Amsterdam Avenue, between 82nd and 83rd Streets. uws.jinramen.com/stores/jin-upper-west/, 646-657-0755.
