The ground floor retail spaces at 2551-2555 Broadway, the former Gristedes and future condo at the southwest corner of 96th Street, have been listed on the market. Thanks to ‘Upper West Sider’ for the tip.
There are two spaces listed; one measuring 4,934 square feet, the other measuring 3,725 square feet. The listing page indicates that multiple configurations will be accepted.
The spaces are expected to be ready for occupancy by the second quarter of 2022.
Once complete, 2551-2555 Broadway will have 144 condominium units above the retail level.
Extell Development purchased the former Gristedes site for $100 million in 2017, and it wasn’t the first Gristedes site they bought.
This part of 96th Street will be looking very different in the coming years.
Right next door, another proposed development – this one by Fetner Properties – is expected to rise 23 stories and hold 171 apartments, a portion of which will be designated for low to middle income residents. This building, 266 West 96th Street, will rise at the site of a former IRT substation. It has now received full approval by Community Board 7.
