At about 1:58 a.m. on Friday, the NYPD responded to a call about an assault within the subway station at 96th and Broadway when a man was shoved onto the tracks of the southbound 1 train.
Officers who were already patrolling the station observed a 34-year-old man on the tracks with a laceration to his head.
The man was assisted from the track area to the platform and was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A 28-year-old male suspect, Andre Boyce, was taken into custody from the location without further incident. The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
The identification of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
