5 Suspects Wanted for Ripping Necklaces off Women’s Necks

The NYPD has issued an alert about a group of five male suspects wanted for committing three robberies between August and September. Police are hoping someone from the public will be able to assist them in identifying and locating the wanted individuals.

While there are five suspects being sought, there were only two involved in each robbery.

The first incident on record took place on August 5 at about 8:25 p.m. on 65th and West End, when two suspects on a motorized scooter approached a 64-year-old female from behind. Police say “The individuals forcibly removed a necklace from the victim’s neck and pushed her to the ground” before fleeing on their scooter. EMS responded and transported the victim to Mount Sinai West in stable condition.

The second and third incidents took place in Midtown but were otherwise similar: two suspects on electric bikes approached female victims to steal their necklaces.

  • On Sunday, August 11 at about 4:10 p.m., a 25-year-old female was targeted at 50th and Eighth Avenue.
  • On Saturday, September 7 at about 7:36 p.m., a 22-year-old female was targeted on 47th and Eighth Avenue.

The September 7 robbery led to one arrest.

Police describe each of the five remaining suspects as “male,” adding that the first was “last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts, white flip flops, and carrying a black cross-body bag” and the second was “last seen wearing a gray T-shirt and black shorts.”

Descriptions of suspects 3-5 also came with surveillance imagery.
