UPDATE, July 19: The NYPD has announced that 26-year-old Bronx resident Fraylee Liranzo has been arrested for this incident on assault charges.
At about 3:10 p.m. on Monday, a 68-year-old woman standing on the southbound 1 train platform at the 66th Street station was pepper sprayed.
According to the report, the victim was speaking to a group of females “when an uninvolved female individual told the victim to ‘mind her business’ prior to discharging pepper spray in the victim’s face.”
It’s unclear what they were talking about and why it led to a confrontation.
Following the incident, the female suspect fled the location on foot. The victim refused medical assistance.
Police describe the suspect as a woman in her 20s standing about 5’4″ with a “heavy build.” She was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with the words “sold out” on it, black pants, and white/black/grey sneakers.
The victim snapped a photo of her with her cellphone.

Not only is she disgusting, and a criminal, she’s also 100% wrong about what a Karen is. A Karen is someone who weaponizes race. It was the African-America birder Mark Cooper who told Karen Cooper she was breaking the law and to put her dog on a leash. Karen Cooper called the cops to report a Black man was threatening her, which was a lie. Yelling at kids who jumped the turnstile, which I do all the time, is what Mark Cooper did. Turnstiles or Dog Leash, the person quoting REAL law is NOT the Karen. This garbage sprayer in her hideous spandex is the Karen. And now she’s a criminal. If she tried that spray on me, she’d find herself on the wrong end of a far worse weapon and that spandex would be filled with holes. There’s an Internet expression: “You can’t fix stupid.” You can’t.

Several other news outlets reported that the pepper sprayed said “mind your own business, Karen, “ not just “mind your own business,” as reported above.
Whatever her name was — Amy or Karen — she was the one breaking the law with entitlement and impunity. My point was Mark Cooper (who now has a birding TV show, by the way, I think with National Geographic) told Ms. Cooper to put her dog on the leash, because having your dog off leash in Central Park is illegal: they interfere with birds, other wildlife, and plant life. So telling someone not to break the law is NOT the Karen. The Karen is the idiot who weaponized race and breaks the law with entitlement. My comment might have sounded like I jump the turnstiles — heavens, no! — what I meant is I yell and shame turnstile jumpers all the time. I also will scream at anyone riding their bike on the sidewalk and/or running a red light. The City has become dangerous in so many ways. I also will add that despite pushing 68, and being wracked with arthritis, I would have loved to crack this broad right in that smug mug if she tried spraying me with anything. She needs tp be prosecuted for assault, but my fear is they will just give her a wrist slap.
Actually, Christian Cooper was the Karen. He approached a strange woman who was minding her own business in the park, started with her for breaking a park rule that almost nobody cares about, said he was going to do something she wouldn’t like, and tried to lure her dog away. So she got scared and called the cops, like almost ANY woman would.

OMG – NO! Everything is so WRONG with your comments, I almost don’t know where to begin, so let’s start with the transcript. Exactly where did this play by play come from? Was there a stenographer present? Did someone whip out a court reporter machine and start typing?
To claim “no one cares about Park laws” is just ABSURD! Why the hell do you think we, 1).Have laws; 2). Spend billions taking care of the flora and fauna in the Park; and, 3) have the Central Park Conservancy? To crap the Park up? To make it unusable and unenjoyable? It’s everyone’s Park and MOST people in NYC CARE and want to see laws obeyed the Park enjoyable for ALL.

What part of the words, “Breaking the law!!” elude you? NO ONE who is flaunting breaking the law is “minding her own business.” Central Park is everyone’s business. This idiotic notion that one person’s actions don’t affect us all is garbage. She had her dog illegally off-lead and whatever excuse she offered up it doesn’t matter. She doesn’t own Central Park! There are REAL REASONS dogs MUST be on lead, not the least of which is when they aren’t – if you know anything at all about dogs – they run away, get lost, get run over, wind up stolen, wind up being fodder for illegal dog fights, and wind up being put to death in the pound, or wind up being adopted by someone else, or get run over by fast bikes or cars and wind up DEAD. Leash laws increase the life of dogs multi-fold. Look it up.
More importantly, dogs dig up soil, dig in plants, ruin the plant life, the flora, the fauna, their urine kills plants, they crap all over and owners don’t clean up after them, they kill birds, they kill other small animals, they bite people, or they get bitten and spread rabies. THEY MUST BE ON LEAD IN THE PARK FOR A REASON. Mr. Cooper told her where to walk her dog and she thought she could be lazy and not comply. There are dog runs all over the City, not just the one that was “closed.” Furthermore, if she had a small dog, it could actually get all the exercise it needed in the confines of her own apartment. If she has a large dog, put him on lead, and WALK the damned thing. I had a German Shepherd in the City who lived an astounding 16 years and 2-1/2 months and I NEVER took him off lead in any park. We walked miles together every night and we volunteered to do pet therapy once a month for 14 years for the Animal Medical Center. There is NO excuse for Amy Cooper to think the City revolves around her and her dog and she could just do what she wanted. That is pure garbage. And the point of the article we are posting on is that turnstile jumpers cannot either. Telling Christian Cooper to “mind his own business” is like this sludge telling the woman she maced to mind her own business. Well, the MTA is bleeding $400-million per year and just announced they have to raise the fare because of those turnstile jumpers. I ride the subway daily and THAT IS MY BUSINESS. Christian Cooper is on the board of the Audubon Society and birds in Central Park and everywhere are HIS BUSINESS.
That line is supposed to read, “It’s everyone’s Park and most people in NYC care and want to see laws obeyed, so the Park can be made enjoyable for all.”

I am so tired of people claiming, “None of your business!” I live in New York City, I work in New York City, I pay taxes to support New York City, and absolutely everything that happens in New York City is my business. We should all feel that way. That’s the only way 9-million people can live on top of each other.
By the way, they found the woman. Her name is Fraylee Liranzo, she’s 26 years old, and faces two counts of assault, one count of harassment, and multiple counts of felony bad taste in clothing.
