Orangetheory to Open 92nd Street Studio this Month

Popular fitness brand Orangetheory Fitness has announced that its new Upper West Side location, at 73 West 92nd Street, will officially be opening on March 24.

This will be the national chain’s second UWS studio; its first opened at 120 West 72nd Street in early 2019.

OTF offers 60-minute workouts, which are split into intervals of cardio and strength training. The hourlong HIIT (high-intensity interval training) classes involve cardio, rowing machines, weight training and floor exercises.

In March of last year, OTF leased the 3,600-square-foot space, which is part of a retail complex at the base of a residential rental building. The retail project, at 667 Columbus Ave. between 92nd and 93rd streets, has been under development by Stellar Management for the last several years. The architects behind the complex, Beyer Blinder Belle, say the design will serve as a model for other expected developments in the area, which was formerly part of an urban renewal project.

Four other retail tenants have leased space in the 15,000-square-foot complex: coffee shop Peaky Barista, Cleanlab Cleaners, Morningside PlayCare and a veterinary startup, Small Door Veterinary. Apparently, one remaining space remains—3,150 square feet on the corner of 92nd Street and Columbus Avenue.

Beyer Blinder Belle says the design is a “template for expected future developments within the LSRD [Large Scale Residential Development] area. The residential tower was built in 1971, says the firm, as part of an expired LSRD plan for the West Side Urban Renewal Area.
