Jewish Teens Targeted in Anti-Semitic Incident

Six Jewish teens were threatened by an armed group of males this weekend.

An NYPD representative told ILTUWS the incident took place at 7:20pm on Saturday near 86th and West End Avenue.

It was reported to police that six teens, aged 12-16, were approached by three male teens who said they wanted to fight them — and further stated that because they were Jewish — they wanted to “get them.”

The suspects — who police say had a knife, crowbar and sword — followed the teens toward their residence before fleeing.

There were no reported injuries as a result of this incident, and the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force was notified and are investigating.

Upper West Side Council Member Gale Brewer shared a tweet about the incident, which her office was initially informed of.

One Twitter user wrote that between this incident, the hateful message written on Miriam’s outdoor dining cafe, and the reportedly anti-Semitic crossing guard fired from her post on 79th Street, it’s beginning to feel unsafe for Jews.
