The NYPD is asking the public to help identify an individual wanted for committing an assault on an Upper West Side subway last month.
The incident took place on Wednesday, March 22 at about 6:17 p.m. on a southbound 2 train. A 35-year-old female and the unknown male suspect got into a verbal dispute which quickly escalated into a physical altercation. When the suspect was exiting the train at the 96th Street station, “he displayed a can of pepper spray and struck the victim in the back of the head with it,” police say.
The suspect fled in an unknown direction, and the victim had complaints of pain but refused medical services.
The suspect is described as “a male, approximately 5’11” tall, and in his late teens to early 20s. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and a multicolored backpack.”
