AB Acupuncture, located at 118 West 72nd Street within W72 Wellness, has been serving the UWS community since 2020. Founder and owner of both businesses, Annalisa Brown L.Ac, had been a long-time patient of acupuncture before making it her life’s work to share this beneficial and healing practice with others.

Annalisa Brown
Acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely fine, sterile needles into specific locations on the body. The needles help stimulate nerves, which send signals to the brain. This activates the body’s central nervous system to release hormones that can alleviate pain, making acupuncture a popular treatment for chronic pain, auto-immune diseases, migraines, neurological conditions, and sports injuries.
Continually striving to provide the most effective acupuncture treatments to the community, AB is thrilled to be growing both its practice and service offerings this August.
Annalisa is an expert acupuncturist, yet her commitment to learning never ceases. She continues to study acupuncture techniques and has recently completed training to provide acupuncture for recovery from stroke and other neurological conditions, which will be offered at AB Acupuncture going forward. This treatment aids stroke survivors in restoring function; a 2021 study notably found that acupuncture can improve the function of patients with dysphagia (trouble swallowing), which is common in stroke survivors. Annalisa has found that the new technique and needle placement show promise for alleviating long-COVID brain fog, fatigue, tremors and more.
AB Acupuncture is also proud to welcome two new acupuncturists to the team who have a lot to offer the Upper West Side–a former writer and a former dancer: Kelly Chan and Carly Lepore.

Kelly Chan
Kelly Chan’s acupuncture journey began when she followed her curiosity to learn more about her body. Setting aside her career as a writer and academic, she devoted herself to studying acupuncture and herbal medicine. Kelly has an intuitive understanding of somatic, psychological, and spiritual well-being, using her talents and compassion to help others find their path to healing. She has helped clients manage and recover from conditions including musculoskeletal pain, menstrual irregularities, IBS, as well as anxiety and depression. She utilizes multiple therapeutic traditions within East Asian medicine and tailors her approach to meet each client’s needs.

Carly Lepore
Carly Lepore is an accomplished dancer and yoga instructor who found acupuncture to be immensely helpful in bodily recovery from her active lifestyle. Carly developed a passion for acupuncture and wanted to offer this same relief to others. She attended the Pacific College of Health & Science and now specializes in acupuncture for pain relief, digestive issues and women’s health support. In her spare time, Carly volunteers at a harm reduction center in Harlem working with trauma and addiction patients.
For those new to the practice, the glowing reviews for AB Acupuncture and its skilled team speak for themselves. Clients regularly take to Google, Yelp and Facebook to post rave five-star reviews and recommend the practice to others.
