If you have a history of accidentally killing your plants with too much or too little water, this new plant store could be just the place for you. Unlike your typical live plant store, EasyPlant sells what they claim to be “the world’s most convenient self-watering plants.”

So what does self-watering mean? According to their website, EasyPlant has developed a patented system aimed at simplifying plant care. Each plant comes with a hidden water reservoir built into the pot that requires refilling around once a month. The system is designed to transport water directly from the reservoir to the plant’s roots through the soil, regulating the supply to ensure plants receive the right amount.

Their website FAQs state that “EasyPlant allows anyone to grow plants no matter their skillset or busy lifestyle. You don’t need to worry about watering your plant correctly, Just fill the built-in reservoir once a month and let EasyPlant water itself. On average, EasyPlants live 6x longer than regular plants and are the most convenient, low-maintenance plants you’ll find.”

Online reviews say that EasyPlants are true to their name and easy to keep alive for those low-maintenance plant parents among us. A big downside to note is that repotting your plant will be difficult if not impossible, as this reviewer asked “How does one go about repotting a plant that’s effectively built into a special pot with a built-in self-watering system?”

The Easyplant website and Instagram page mention that they opened their first brick-and-mortar store on Prince Street in Nolita in late August. So far, there is no mention of an opening date for the UWS store. We DM’d EasyPlant and an employee told us that they don’t have a confirmed opening date just yet. We’ll update this post when we have more info.
