The Tang has announced its reopening after closing down in September for what it described in an Instagram post as “some much-needed renovations and kitchen upgrades.” They’ve also added some new menu items, according to the post. The Chinese noodle bar opened in 2019 at 920 Amsterdam Avenue (at 105th Street), its second location at the time (the original East Village location has since closed). The refreshed UWS restaurant is currently in its soft-opening phase; you can learn more by clicking the Instagram link above.
Taïm Mediterranean Kitchen was supposed to open at 2485 Broadway (between 92nd and 93rd streets), we reported in May 2023. But now, an eviction notice has been posted on the front door of the space, per this Reddit post. The notice is dated November 4 and it’s a 14 day notice of eviction. We’ve reached out to the company to see what they can tell us. Taïm was also expected to open on the Upper East Side, but that’s also no longer happening, and an unrelated Mediterranean chain (Cava) will be opening at that location (on Third Avenue) instead. “Taim to say goodbye,” said one person in the comments.
Here’s a response we received from Taïm on Tuesday: “As of now, our operations leadership team has not made any final decisions regarding the future of that location. We are still evaluating our options and will do our best to keep our customers informed once any decisions are made.”

Signage is up at 68th and Amsterdam for Sushi Lin (thanks to IG user @gambrelle_ for the tip and photo). According to its website, Sushi Lin “[utilizes] specialized seafood sourced from Tsukiji Market, Japan & around the world to bring forth an Omakase experience that focuses on freshness, flavor & texture.” The restaurant has locations in Soho, the West Village, the Lower East Side, Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights. Sushi Lin offers 12- and 17-course dinner menus, priced respectively at $85 and $125, and $55 lunch menus at the Soho and West Village locations. Sushi Lin’s existing locations have Google review scores ranging from 4.7 to 4.9 stars. Window signage states a December Upper West Side opening.

Taim was bought out a few months ago so no surprise they’re not going to carry through with that opening:
