ABC7 Eyewitness News signed off the air for the last time from its decades-long home on the Upper West Side this weekend.
The studio at 7 Lincoln Square (between West 66th and 67th streets along Columbus Avenue) has housed the broadcast since 1979. ABC7’s parent company, Disney, has begun its move from its longtime UWS base to a brand-new, modernized office at 7 Hudson Square near the Holland Tunnel entrance in Tribeca. The move won’t be fully complete until later in 2025, but some of the network’s shows, like The View, are already filming from the new studio.

Lee Goldberg, the ABC7’s lead meteorologist who has been with the network for nearly 30 years, shared a heartfelt tribute to 7 Lincoln Square that included the following:
“I will miss the intimate feel of our aging building. I will miss the street-side studio where we drew energy from our wonderful neighbors walking by. I will miss the Upper West Side–home of the NYC Marathon Finish, the best Halloweens, the start of the Thanksgiving Day Parade, Lincoln Center, and the best backyard in TV–Central Park.”
Goldberg joined the ABC7 weekend crew as they signed off for the last time from 7 Lincoln Square, which can be viewed here.
So what’s next for the soon-to-be empty campus, just a stones throw from Lincoln Center and Columbus Circle? We reported in December that Extell is planning a luxury residential development at 7 West 66th Street and 30 West 67th Street. Extell will raze the existing 14-story structure on West 67th and gut-renovate the 14,000 square foot building on West 66th. Once completed, the new buildings will combine for more than 80 apartments.
