Dance with Miss Rachel was founded in 2012 with one teacher, a rolling suitcase, and big plans. After earning a following teaching ballet to young children downtown, “Miss Rachel” Cantor, a lifelong dancer and teaching artist, struck out on her own. What began with 40 dancers in its first year-end recital, has grown to boast a team of nearly 30 professional instructors who have taught thousands of young dancers and musicians in a beautiful, four-studio space in Tribeca.
In February, Dance with Miss Rachel will expand to the Upper West Side, opening its doors at 529 Columbus Avenue at 86th Street. Programs include ballet, tap, and musical theatre, as well as Baby Bop! Music for babies as young as 10 weeks, private piano and voice lessons, weekly birthday parties, and special events.
“The last seven-plus years in Tribeca have been incredible”, said founder and owner Rachel Cantor. “We are so honored to have the opportunity to share our program with a whole new community of families on the UWS. The UWS is where I lived for the bulk of my years in NYC. To open a second studio here (now with two baby ballerinas of my own!) is a dream come true.”
New students are invited to try a class for free and will save 10% when they enroll before January 31st with discount code ILUWSJan10.

“Anyone who takes their child anywhere else just hasn’t done their research.” – Jessica, mother of a 7 and 4 year old.
