Somm Cellars Wine & Spirits, a new luxury wine store founded by two sommeliers, has signed a retail lease at Waterline Square, the three-building residential development located between 59th and 61st Streets, just off Riverside Boulevard.
The store will be almost 1,300 square feet and will be located on the ground floor of One Waterline Square (at 59th Street).
The people behind this new wine store are Jason Jacobeit, Wine Director at Bâtard, and Daniel Jung, Head Sommelier at Tribeca Grill. Somm Cellars Wine & Spirits will join fellow commercial tenants Cipriani and Mexican restaurant Empellón Taqueria, both scheduled to open this year.
Somm Cellars Wine & Spirits will offer a curated selection of wine and spirits varying in price and region, with a particular focus on Burgundy. The storefront will also include a small bar to host tastings.
“Community is the central tenet of our experience, and we knew Waterline Square was the perfect location for our first retail concept because of its vibrant community-oriented atmosphere,” said Jacobeit and Jung. “We look forward to opening our doors later this year and becoming part of the Waterline Square lifestyle experience.”
Mitch Friedel, Vice Chairman of Newmark Knight Frank; Janey Steinmetz, Managing Director; and Ryan Tucker, Associate, represented GID Development Group in the transaction.
