A GoFundMe campaign was launched for Han’s Family Market on June 19th, Patch first reported. The store is located at 2501 Broadway, on the corner of 93rd Street, and also goes by Han’s Fruit & Vegetable Market.
The campaign description stated that the business had been struggling financially due to the pandemic. “Also, Mr. Han deals with tough customers with such grace. Plus he’s funny. This is our corner store that we don’t ever want to lose. Please help save this small business for many years to come. All funds will go to Han’s Family Market.”
When we first announced the campaign on June 23rd, they had raised $1,285 out of a $10,000 goal. Now, around 10am on June 28th, they’ve raised about $11,000!!
According to Patch, the market has been on the UWS for three decades, and with growing competition and a $20,000 monthly rent bill, the owners began feeling a financial strain well before the pandemic began.
