The Beauty and the Beast Experience, an “immersive cocktail adventure,” is coming to the Upper West Side this summer! From July 29 to September 18, Pekarna (594 Amsterdam Ave at 89th Street) will be turned into the Beast’s castle for what the creators are calling a “theatrical, alternate reality experience that will take you into a world of madness and talking clocks!”

Based on the fairy tale by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, the 90-minute experience is part escape room, part theatrical performance and part adventure, blended together with delicious cocktails for an unforgettable fairytale escapade. You’ll find yourself in the Beast’s enchanted castle, greeted by all his servants who have been magically cursed to live as household objects. You must lift the curse from the castle and save the Beast and his friends by solving a series riddles and challenges, all while sipping on Beauty and the Beast-themed cocktails that you’ve created. The evening comes complete with a disclaimer from the creators: “No inanimate objects will be hurt during this adventure.” This experience is sure to be Insta-worthy, so make sure you don your best Belle, Gaston or even LeFou inspired attire.
This immersive experience is being presented by Explore Hidden, the creators of The Wizard’s Den, Beyond Cinema and The Alice. Last year, Pekarna hosted The Alice: An Immersive Cocktail Experience, transforming the restaurant and lounge into a cocktail driven Wonderland filled with puzzles and riddles to be solved by adventurers.
Tickets for the Beauty and the Beast Experience are $55 and can be purchased in advance here. According to the ticketing site, the experience is for adults 18 years or older, except for family friendly sessions. The experience is limited, so you will want to grab your tickets before this fairytale experience is sold out.

Pekarna is an awesome place. Really the first real cocktail bar in the upper parts of the UWS. Also, it’s MASSIVE.
