On Sunday morning, pieces of shattered glass were scattered in front the broken front entrance of Eléa, a Greek restaurant located at 217 West 85th Street, between Amsterdam and Broadway.
A reader told us police officers had been at the scene since 8:30am. We reached out to the NYPD press office and to Elea for more information.
A spokesperson for the NYPD told us the incident was reported at 5:45am on Sunday, providing us with the following statement:
“[An] unknown male suspect was seen via CCTV forcibly [entering] by shattering the front door glass. [The] suspect proceeded inside of [the] location and removed a cash drawer (no cash inside) and 3 mini iPads. [The] suspect exited [the] location and fled [eastbound] towards Amsterdam Avenue.”
