Giorgio Armani was already a resident of 91 Central Park West (at 69th Street), but in late 2019 he purchased T-Mobile CEO John Legere’s penthouse for about $17.5 million, the Wall Street Journal first reported. Legere bought the apartment, which was once home to William Randolph Hearst, for $18 million in 2015.

Legere purchased it from the Estate Of Carol T. Blake, which had originally listed the home at $27.5 million. Legere first listed the Upper West Side apartment for sale back in February of 2018 for $22 million.

Designed by architectural firm SheltonMindel, Penthouse A (PHA) at 91 Central Park West is an eight room, four bed, four bath duplex with dripping details like stained glass windows, wood-beamed ceilings, a huge terrace with three terraces offering 100 feet of Central Park views, a private elevator landing and a wood-burning fireplace surrounded by a floor-to-ceiling mantle.

Armani bought the penthouse with plans to create a combination unit to take over the entire floor of the building.

The famed former owner of the abode, William Randolph Hearst (1863-1951), is known for creating Hearst Communications, a giant media company and newspaper publisher which today has its headquarters on West 57th Street and owns over 360 businesses. Hearst was also a member of the House of Representative’s in a New York district from 1903 to 1907.

In addition to owning this amazing apartment, Hearst also owned a 14,000 square foot penthouse on Riverside Drive, as well as a mansion in Beverly Hills.
