Arrest Made for Fatal Traffic Accident Claiming Life of 74-Year-Old Man

The incident took place at the intersection of West 106th Street and Amsterdam Avenue (Google Maps)

Police have made an arrest in connection to a traffic accident earlier this year which killed a 74-year-old man.

It happened on May 10 at about 3:45 p.m. The deceased, who has been identified as UWS resident Angel Rodriguez-Albuquerque, was crossing the street at West 106th Street and Amsterdam Avenue when the driver of a 2017 Ram van struck him. Police say the driver remained at the scene

Rodriguez-Albuquerque was thrown to the pavement, causing head trauma and lacerations to his arms. He was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital via EMS in stable condition, but sadly succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Following an investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad, 45-year-old Jose Naula Remache was arrested this week on charges of failing to yield to a pedestrian.
