Bánh Vietnamese Shop House’s Grand Opening

Last modified on December 15th, 2021

After opening as a pop-up over the 2020 Halloween weekend, Bánh Vietnamese Shop House had its grand opening on Friday, January 15, at 942 Amsterdam Avenue (between 106th and 107th Streets).

According to a feature by Eater NY, the restaurant was a hit right away, processing over 1,100 orders during its soft-opening weekend. Owners Nhu Ton and John Nguyen told the publication that they were so slammed they had to sleep at the restaurant. “I’d take a nap for two hours and then wake up and keep making food,” Ton told them.

Another “mid-pop-up” feature by Gothamist (written on November 20) noted the extremely long lines and superb food, which would explain them.

Bánh’s menu includes Bánh Mì (Vietnamese sandwiches), Pho (noodle soup), steamed rice rolls and more.
