Best Singles Bars on the Upper West Side

“The Upper West Side is the place to be for singles bars”, said probably no one ever. Sure, we don’t have such a high ratio of singles as areas like the Upper East Side.  And we don’t have the reputation for wild nightlife like Hell’s Kitchen does.  But, we do have some great spots where you can possibly make a connection with someone special.  Read below for our top 4 singles bars on the Upper West Side.

503 Columbus Ave

Prohibition has great live music and is a very high energy venue.  This is a terrific choice for those of you who like to meet new people through the art of dance. This Upper West Side singles bar also offers their space as a private party venue, and is a popular dining destination.  Plan to show up early or during the week, as Prohibition gets very crowded!

Gin Mill

442 Amsterdam Ave

Part of the strip of bars along Amsterdam Ave in the 80s.  Very fair prices, good food and lots of space (but as a popular after-work destination, often crowded). This UWS pub is popular among sports fans, with tasty sandwiches and over 20 available beers. Also featured in our guide to Upper West Side happy hours.

Jake’s Dilemma

430 Amsterdam Ave

Generally a young-ish crowd; lots of bros, not that there’s anything wrong with that.  For those who like to stay active while pounding a few back, Jake’s has a pool table, foosball, and even beer pong.  Owned by the same folks as the Gin Mill.

Vanguard Wine Bar

189 Amsterdam Ave

A great Lincoln Center bar and probably a place to step it up in the wardrobe department. This wine bar offers a quieter scene where your fellow bar goers will actually be able to hear what you’re saying, so try to say something smart.
