Last modified on April 14th, 2021

Beyond Sushi – the fish free sushi chain – has recently opened its seventh location on the Upper East Side, and within the next two years, plans to open on the Upper West Side, Eater has reported. The owners also plan on setting up shop in Williamsburg.

It hasn’t yet been revealed where on the UWS the restaurant will be. Or when exactly it will open.

The newest outpost on the UES – located at 1429 Third Avenue (between 80th and 81st Street) – is a full service restaurant housing 50 seats and offers cocktails.

Beyond Sushi opened its first storefront in Union Square during 2012.

The owners, Guy and Tali Vaknin, are also husband and wife, and fans of Shark Tank might recognize them from their 2018 appearance on the hit show.

As well as from various other press appearances. Here’s Guy in a 2017 interview on Good Day New York.

Beyond Sushi’s vegan rolls are made with ingredients including black rice, mango, fennel and avocado.

They also offer soups, dumplings filled with kale, kabbage and mushrooms, wraps, salads and meat-free kebabs.

In addition to the cocktails they’re serving at their Upper East Side restaurant, the beverage list includes cucumber mint, watermelon mint and blueberry lemonades, strawberry yuzu and various teas.

Here’s the mission, as posted on Beyond Sushi’s website

“At Beyond Sushi, we avoid all meat and seafood alternatives in our ingredients. Chef Guy Vaknin and his culinary team have elevated the meaning of eating vegan by offering a fast-casual menu with high-end appeal. By fusing unconventional pairings of fruits, vegetables and whole grains along with meticulous preparations, Chef Guy has crafted a forward-thinking menu including vibrant sushi, dumplings, rice paper wraps, salads and noodle soups.”
