The free mass wedding celebrations will begin at 5 p.m. and go late into the night. The extravagant festivities will honor couples with “a multicultural ceremony with various faith leaders, live musical performances from special guests, and culminates with a joyous party.” The event promotions also promise flowers, henna artists, insta-worthy selfie opportunities, a night of dancing, and appearances from featured artists including The Dance Cartel, Juilliard’s Alumni String Quartet, Street Beat Brass, Isaac Oliver, César Alvarez, Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis, Harolyn Blackwell, Joshua Henry, DJ Lina, and more.
This enormous marital celebration began in 2022 as a way to honor couples whose weddings were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. While health concerns and lingering social-distancing restrictions meant many couples had to downsize, delay, or even cancel their weddings, “New York’s Biggest Day” offered a chance for them to commemorate their love with all the pomp and circumstance they deserve. This year’s version is directed by the Founding Artistic Director of Ars Nova, Jason Eagan, with Music Supervision by Or Matias.

While not a legally binding wedding, the evening is intended to be a celebration of love and happiness for all couples. Couples are encouraged to come and express their love loudly and proudly at this heartwarming event, whether you’re getting married for the first time or renewing vows to your long-time loved one. If you’re someone who just wants to bask in your true love for The Big Apple, you’re welcome to do that too!

The event invitation suggests couples should “plan to wear your best wedding finery (whatever that means to you).” As photos from previous years show, attendees take this invitation seriously with a dazzling array of attire from classic wedding dresses to bejeweled ensembles.
The event takes place as part of the Summer for the City programming. Couples interested in attending the event can learn more here and register here. Couples should plan to arrive by 5:00 p.m. Check-in is from 5:00–5:30 p.m., and pre-ceremony activities will begin at 5:00 p.m.
