On Monday, May 11th, Bistro Cassis announced that it would be closing due to the COVID-19 outbreak, with no plans on reopening.
The charming French restaurant had operated at 225 Columbus Avenue (between 70th and 71st Streets) for about 15 years.
The restaurant was popular for its wide array of wines, French onion soup, rack of lamb, steak frites and much more.
Here are some positive reviews recently shared on the restaurant’s Instagram page, praising the great food and service they offered through takeout and delivery during the throes of the crisis:

The restaurant was part of Reststar Hospitality Group, which opened the original Bistro Cassis in Huntington, Long Island in 2001. This location is still open.
Oh no. One of my favorite UWS restaurants. Does this mean they are closing for good?
Not only was the food outstanding, but the people who worked there were magnificent, from Manny to William…they are family. The best!
We in our family are heartbroken. One of our favorite places! What is scary is whether this is a preview of things to come in New York. If it is, this City will never be the same – and that is concerning.
I’m so sorry and sad about closing Bistro Cassis! ?
I hear that long-time general manager, Manny Colon wants to take over the lease and re-open the restaurant! Manny is great-I would support him 100%!

I love the casual vibe and excellent food–please Manny do take it over and continue its great traditions!
