There’s a new buy-and-sell bookstore called Book Off on the Upper West Side. They’ll be opening soon at 526 Amsterdam Ave. They have another location at 49 West 45th Street. Book Off buys and sells used goods including books, DVDs, CDs, video games, children’s toys, game consoles and more.
This is both unexpected and refreshing to see. I haven’t been to their midtown store, so I can’t comment on the quality of their service or product selection. But during an era of swiftly changing technology and remarkable corporate greed, it’s simply awesome to see a new store buying and selling products that might seem almost obsolete. Yes, unfortunately books are in the category …
It also seems like a place I would have gone to back in 1996 (when I was 12). And that makes me tingly.
From the biz: “This business model corresponds to the concerns and benefits of economically recycling and reusing items in today’s society.”
Here are some links to their Midtown location (same folks, so safe to assume similar reviews and quality):
Website (you’ll see they have locations in California and Hawaii).
