Central Park Camera Thief Wanted

A man recently stole cameras from two individuals in Central Park. NYPD officials have put out an alert to the public in the hopes that someone will be able to help them identify and locate him.

The first incident happened on Friday, May 31 at about 2:19 p.m., when a 34-year-old woman was using a camera and tripod in the vicinity of West Drive and Terrace Drive. The suspect, who is currently unknown, approached and removed the equipment while she was distracted. He then fled to parts unknown.

The man struck again the next day at about 1:30 p.m., police say. This time, he approached a 73-year-old man who was using a camera in the vicinity of West Drive and the 79th Street Transverse and removed the device from his hands before fleeing in an unknown direction.

No injuries were reported as a result of either incident. Police have shared photos surveillance cameras were able to capture of the subject.
