On January 15th, eighth graders from Manhattan Country School will be marching through the Upper West Side to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The march will begin at 10am at the Eleanor Roosevelt Monument at 72nd Street in Riverside Park, making additional stops at Strawberry Fields, the New York Historical Society, the Soldiers and Sailors Monument and the Joan of Arc Memorial.
The students at this Manhattan private school will be speaking out about the most important civil rights issues of today. The students themselves are responsible for not only planning the route but also for choosing the topics, writing the speeches and publicizing the event.
This will mark the 30th year of the student’s march.
The general public is invited to watch these impressive young people commemorate Dr. King this month. For more info, check out the official page at http://www.manhattancountryschool.org/2018-MLK-March.
