An art installation called the “Re-Material Wall” by Leander Knust was recently installed at the West 111th Street People’s Garden. The piece presents themes of transformation and integration using reclaimed material from demolished New York buildings, as well as plant and animal life in the community garden.
This installation provides an effective setting and context for discussions on recent and proposed changes in Morningside Heights.
On Saturday, May 18th between 2-4pm, the artist will present his work, after which the Morningside Heights Community Coalition will lead a discussion about the ongoing changes occurring in the neighborhood.
