Signage is up at 169 Amsterdam Avenue (between 67th and 68th streets) for Yumiko, a Japanese dancewear company. Lincoln Square BID shared the news in a Tuesday Instagram post.

The space has been vacant for many years; here’s an Oct. 2017 Google Maps capture of the papered over windows.
It’s also located just a bit over a block away from the former Capezio (at 69th and Amsterdam), which in Dec. 2019 closed its doors to be replaced by Gourmet Square Mini Market & Deli in Oct. 2021.
“Founded in 2002, Yumiko creates long-lasting, great-fitting dance and athletic wear of the highest quality,” the company website’s ‘about’ section states. Like Capezio, Yumiko sells outfits for men, women and kids.
Yumiko has stores in Japan and Germany and two in NYC (one in Midtown and one on the Upper East Side). Per signage, the store is expected to open on the Upper West Side this spring.
