Duo of Robbers Steal $80 from Man’s Pocket

Police are looking for two suspects who reportedly robbed a young man in Central Park this week.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 8 at about 9 p.m., and the victim, a 21-year-old man, was sitting on a bench in Central Park near 59th Street and Center Drive.

The first suspect sat next to the victim and “forced him to input his password,” police say. The second suspect sat on the opposite side and “forcefully removed $80.00 from the victim’s pocket.”

We’ve asked the NYPD for clarification on whether any funds were stolen from an app on the victim’s phone, or whether that was the initial objective.

The victim was not injured and the two suspects “fled on foot to parts unknown.”

Here are screenshots of the two suspects (taken from a video NYPD officials provided to the media).

Anyone with relevant information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by sending a direct message to @NYPDTips on Twitter.
