The FDNY received a call about an eleventh-floor fire in a sixteen-story apartment building at about noon on Thursday.

A total of 20 units and 78 fire and EMS personnel were deployed to the scene at 451 West End Avenue, a rental building located between West 81st and West 82nd streets.
Several videos shared on Citizen app show a crowd forming on the sidewalk as firefighters extend a ladder into the building and smoke billows out of the impacted apartment’s window.
The fire was deemed under control by 12:36 p.m. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
