Fighting Retail Vacancies and Climate Change Denial

Last modified on March 17th, 2019

An upcoming event hosted by Community Free Democrats will address the trending empty storefronts throughout the Upper West Side.

Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer will cover what steps have been taken, and what still needs to be done, which includes working out possible policy changes.

UWS Save Our Stores will also present their plans, along with a photo essay by group member Kevin Kinner.

We first covered UWS Save Our Stores when their Facebook page was launched; our coverage quickly lead to this feature story by NBC.

At this point their goal was just to assemble locals who care about keeping their favorite stores in business. But now they’ve connected with Brewer and action is underway.

The discussion is free and no RSVP is required.

More UWS Action For Change

On Friday, March 15th, students around the world walked out of their classrooms to demand action on climate change. So did professors and other adults.

This included groups on Central Park West and outside of the American Museum of Natural History, Columbus Circle and at Columbia University.
