At 5:03 p.m., the FDNY was called to the scene at 201 West 70th Street (between Amsterdam and West End avenues), a 41-story co-op known as One Sherman Square. The fire, which was in a 7th floor apartment, was deemed under control at 5:49 p.m. No injuries were reported.

According to an initial police dispatch call, it was initially believed to be a stove fire, but FDNY officials told ILTUWS on Friday morning that the cause was still under investigation.

Video shared on Citizen shows FDNY and EMS vehicles responding to the scene as sirens blare and passersby watch from adjacent street corners.
