Friends of Verdi Square

Last modified on June 9th, 2021

A newly formed non-profit, Friends of Verdi Square, is hosting their first free event on Sunday, November 11th from 11am to 3pm.

A few locals created the group to sustain and restore Verdi Square. Their goal is to ensure the park will remain accessible and green for Upper West Siders in the years to come. They have plans to restore the flower beds, fix the benches, plant bulbs and plan great events!

They initially launched in late August of 2018, with support of Partnerships for Parks and New York City Parks & Recreation.

Their November 11th kick-off event will be an informal gathering filled with presentations, as well as an open dialogue about how the space can be restored.

Friends of Verdi Square will also be seeking community input, membership (which is free), and volunteer gardeners!
