Both the Gap and Banana Republic stores on the Upper West Side are expected to close, our tipster who goes by ‘Upper West Sider’ has informed us.
The corner space formerly occupied by Gracious Home is also available for rent, and our tipster tells us the landlord is looking to combine this with the Gap storefront.
The former Gracious Home and current Gap storefronts offer a combined 43,655 square feet of space, between the ground floor and lower two levels.
In March 2019, Business Insider reported that the retailer would be closing up to half their stores. Earlier this year, the Gap closed a number of stores in 22 US states.
The space currently occupied by Banana Republic offers a total of 14,884 square feet, between the ground floor and lower level.
Here are more details about the Gap space and the Banana Republic space.

Well I wish the landlord lots of luck. There will be multiple closing of stores and restaurants joining the already empty spaces. It is really depressing to see life change drastically.

Since I’m fairly new to the UWS, it would be nice to know where the Gap and Banana Republic are located – the street where they live!
86th and 87th st on Broadway
It’s the GAP /Banana Republic on Broadway and 67St. , NOT 86 & 87 Streets, they have been gone for years.
Is this true? They’ve been closed due to covid-19 but thought they’d be reopening.
