After suffering from a devastating fire in the dining room of Fred’s Restaurant, the owners have launched a GoFundMe campaign to get back on their feet.
Luckily, nobody was hurt, the kitchen is intact, and the damage could have been much worse, which Fred’s owners attribute to the FDNY’s quick response.
But they’ll need the community’s help to rebuild.
In addition to the money they’ll need, many of the dog photos have also been destroyed, including some of their very first family dog photos. They’ve indicated that they’d also love their neighbors to help rebuild this collection (but perhaps at a later point in time).
Fred’s has been a staple of the Upper West Side since 1997 – known for their outrageously delicious mac and cheese, framed dog portraits, friendly owners and staff, and overall positive vibes.
Fred’s Restaurant, located at 476 Amsterdam Avenue (83rd Street), is truly an important part of the Upper West Side. Please help them with whatever amount you’re comfortable donating.
We know that you are all hurting out there too – but here and now, we ask – from any and all who are able to help us – with a dollar, or two, or more, to help us achieve our goal to fully restore and renovate our wonderful dining room and restaurant for you and your families and friends – and their families and friends – our loyal #employees and their families – to enjoy for generations to come.
