“We want to thank you all for your wonderful support throughout the years,” the restaurant shared in an Instagram story. “It has been a pleasure serving the neighborhood and all its great people. We will be waiting for you with open arms at our Brooklyn location. Our Heart & Home.”
Thursday is Izzy’s last day of business on the UWS.
“It’s sad to go after 4+ years but we’re excited to focus on Izzy’s in Brooklyn by launching a new menu in the next few weeks,” Izzy’s owner Sruli Eidelman told Yeah That’s Kosher. “Growing our catering business and serving the community that we’ve been serving for the past 12 years. Definitely looking forward to the future.”
The Upper West Side Izzy’s racked up some mixed reviews during its tenure, with respective Yelp and Google scores of 3.1 and 4.3. Their brisket and burnt ends appear to have been top picks, though a lot of people also mentioned dry, flavorless brisket in their reviews.
Right across the street, a kosher market called Six 60 One recently opened at 661 Amsterdam Avenue, and on Thursday morning, an Israeli kosher bakery–Michaeli Bakery–soft-opened at the JCC (334 Amsterdam Avenue at 76th Street).

Back in 1984 I used to rent a mailbox there. Of course it wasn’t Izzy’s at the time.
I always expect to pay more for Kosher, but 120 bucks for a beef rib is ridiculous. Hometown BBQ in Red Hook has enormous amazing beef ribs for 60-80 dollars. Plus, none of Izzy’s food at that location was that good, which was disappointing because my friend is a bit of a BBQ maven and he swore by the Brooklyn Izzy’s.
Can we bring back Numero 28 now?
How about a weed bodega with prices at half of the legal places?
