Key Food appears to be relocating about a block away from its current location. Now located at 755 Amsterdam Avenue (at 97th Street), it seems to be moving to 739 Amsterdam Avenue (at 96th Street). Our reader – no-nonsense liquor license lawyer Bob Romano – recently spotted a liquor license application (which was filed on May 3) in the window.
Another tipster – ‘Upper West Sider’ – previously sent us a link to a filing document with Key Food’s information.
The commercial property – which includes buildings 721 to 739 – is located on the ground floor of a residential condominium, 175 West 95th Street. It also recently became home to a new PlantShed, which opened at 723 Amsterdam Avenue.
Key Food shoppers might be happy to hear this news, as the current location has … mixed reviews (with a lot of complaints specifically about its narrow aisles). So a change in location could certainly widen them …
The new setting is also a bit more aesthetically pleasing.
We’ve reached out to Key Food and will provide an update once we learn more!
I dont shop at this Key Food because its a few blocks further away, but I like it better than the one close to me. It’s got a very warm and friendly atmosphere, the one close to me not as much, tho its okay (no complaints). In any case, Key Food in general has decent stuff at decent prices – not a ripoff like other places. Happy about their move.
Just so long as they don’t try to go upscale like the former Associated there did when they opened that new place up Amsterdam a few years ago. That was a disaster.
And this Key Food is indeed a ripoff for a lot of items. Not everything though.
In a related move, Rust Brown’s will be re-opening, and moving into the Key Foods space
Been watching the construction on this, as it’s literally the bottom floor if my building. Can confirm, MUCH BIGGER aisles. Looks closer to conventional grocery store. Reminds me a lot of Ideal Marketplace way down on 29th/9th.
