Kosher dining can be tough sometimes, but there are a ton of Upper West Side restaurants with some of the best options in the city. There’s a kosher restaurant almost every few blocks, which makes the UWS just THAT much more awesome. This Kosher guide to the Upper West Side should make your life much, much easier.
Fine & Schapiro
138 West 72nd Street (between Amsterdam and Columbus)
This Kosher deli has been in business for over 80 years and is known for their giant sandwiches. They have an enormous menu with over 100 items, but what they’re best known for are their sandwiches.
If you’re looking for classic corned beef, tongue or hot pastrami, this is the place for you.
230 West 72nd Street (between West End and Broadway)
This Kosher butcher has been on the Upper West Side for over 60 years. Their loyal shoppers swear that their meat and other kosher dishes are THE best available (and definitely worth the few extra dollars compared to the local kosher supermarkets!). Their friendly staff is super knowledgeable and always willing to give you their best tips and opinions on cuts and how to prepare.
668 Amsterdam Ave (between 92nd and 93rd Streets)
Need a classic steak and salmon kind of restaurant? Talia’s is your place. White tablecloths, live music, and outdoor dining. A traditional UWS kosher restaurant in every way, including the non-dairy dessert menu.
You can also order from Talia’s directly. Learn how to support this NYC business!
My Most Favorite Food
247 West 72nd Street (between West End and Broadway)
This Upper West Side restaurant and bakery is a sit down restaurant, fully stocked with already-prepared kosher meals, and bakery rolled into one! Specializing in fish, pasta, vegetarian, and vegan cuisine. They also take pride in their dessert offerings (and they should be!): parve, dairy-free, gluten-free, lactose-free options. There is something for EVERYONE here.
2245 Broadway (between 80th and 81st Streets)
What can I even say? Zabar’s is a long-time institution of the Upper West Side with a robust Kosher section . This is the place for gourmet foods galore. Coffee, baked goods (that make for great holiday gifts!), fresh deli meats… and the CHEESES!! The list goes on and on. I dare you to find one person who has anything to complain about this gourmet mecca of NYC.
The Kosher Marketplace
2442 Broadway (between 90th and 91st Streets)
The Kosher Marketplace offers tons of specialty foods, ready cooked meals and yummy baked goods.
They have plenty of organic, humanely raised and sustainable meat and fish options.
Reviews rave for their customer service. This is definitely a one-stop shop for all of your Kosher needs.
The Kosher Marketplace is strictly Glatt Kosher.
Bagels & Co
391 Amsterdam Ave (79th Street)
Super fresh bagels and bialys. Their egg bagels are superb. They also have a ton of cream cheese spreads, including their chocolate chip and blueberry cream cheese!
The lox and whitefish are both top notch quality.
They have a full menu including Kosher pizzas, rotating specials, sandwiches, platters and falafel.
They have an Upper East Side location at 1428 York Ave.
403 Amsterdam Ave (between 79th and 80th Streets)
Great Kosher pizza on the Upper West Side! Try their popular “Grandma”: Thin & Crispy With Homemade Marinara Sauce Topped With Fresh Mozzarella, Pecorino Romano & Fresh Basil. I would also recommend their homemade vodka sauce. They also have great salads!
Kasbah BBQ & Grill
251 West 85th Street (between West End and Broadway)
Excellent Kosher BBQ and steakhouse. Grilled Glatt Kosher meats, burgers, and BBQ.
The menu is inspired by both European and Middle Eastern cuisines.
Try the Kufta spicy burger, homemade beef cigars and definitely their burgers!
This restaurant has a cool, rustic interior with exposed brick walls and antique chandeliers.
212 West 80th Street (between Broadway and Amsterdam)
Grill 212 serves up authentic Yemenite, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Kosher foods.
Their falafel has been rated # 1 in Israel for many years!

This vegetarian restaurant is Kosher certified. Everything served is 100% plant-based, and especially popular are their cakes and unique cocktails (both with alcohol and without).
NY Brat Factory

Sausage galore! Hot dogs, chili dogs, and bratwurst served on an onion roll or hot dog roll.
Some interesting options include their fried pickles, fried oreos and pulled beef spring rolls.
You can also “build your own sausage” with six meat options, a choice of toppings and sauces.
And they carry a whole bunch of great beer!

Another 2018 opening. Boru Boru serves Japanese Kosher food as well as a variety of vegetarian options. They’ve become quite popular for their noodle soups and steamed buns.
Modern Bread and Bagel
472 Columbus Avenue (corner of 83rd Street)
Modern Bread and Bagel is a new gluten-free and kosher bakery with lots of sweet and savory options. While the word “bagels” is in their name, the desserts are much more exciting. They also have a nice assortment of egg and smoked salmon sandwiches, coffees, teas and fresh juices.
Cafe Roma Pizzeria
854 Amsterdam Ave (between 101st and 102nd Streets)
Cafe Roma serves kosher pizza, pasta, salad and more. They’ve also got a nice selection of falafels, fries, onion rings, bourekas and calzones, and there is a hot and cold salad bar (thanks to Stan for reminding us to include them!).
