Is your child a born leader? In this program at the JCC on 76th and Amsterdam, 3rd to 5th graders will have the opportunity to develop leadership and public speaking skills, experience working on the most pressing issues of our time, and make new friends!
The class will be co-created by the children in it, and the areas of focus will reflect the issues most important to them! Together, the kids and instructors will choose one or more issue (such as hunger, homelessness, poverty, climate change, immigration, or education). Students will learn about the history and current events related to the issue(s), past and current attempts to address them, and explore root causes and new solutions.
As a group, participants will meet with change-makers young and old and roll up their own sleeves to start making a real difference in one or more of the issues looked at. The class will be hands-on, age-appropriate, and a great foundation for building leadership skills. Your kids are tomorrow’s leaders!
There will be 21 classes, every Thursday from January 9th to May 28th, and each class will be from 4-5:30pm. The price is $650 for members and $750 for non-members.
