Mama’s Too Opens Doors

Last modified on January 20th, 2025

Mama’s Too recently very recently opened its doors at 2750 Broadway (between 105th and 106th streets) and it’s proven to be a quick hit for neighborhood slice fans.

It’s square pizza which they’ve quickly become known for. And it’s their pepperoni square slice which has received most of the attention. Grub Street published an article about the best square slices in NYC, giving the pepperoni slice at Mama’s Too the number 2 position (just after PQR on the Upper East Side). But that article was written a while ago, so maybe they’ll change their minds.

Mamas Too Pepperoni

The square pepperoni at Mama’s Too is in fact out-of-this-world. The meat is just the right amount of crispy. And the dough used for all of their square slices is perfectly thick and fluffy (yet crispy on the outside).

I personally like their standard cherry-tomato slice the best. And their regular slices are great too, but the squares are something special.

The storefront is a very small space, but there are some counters you can eat off of. And when I’ve been there, they kind of just offer whatever comes out of the oven, unless you want to wait for a while. The staff also has a bit of New York attitude that adds to the experience.
