Manhattanhenge 2018 was a success on the evening of May 30th. But if you missed this round, you’ll have another chance on July 12th at 8:20pm.
This natural phenomenon occurs when the sunset aligns perfectly with the east to west street grid of Manhattan.
One of the best streets to catch Manhattanhenge is 79th Street. Below, you’ll see my evening progress from Columbus Ave to the river.
No need to get out of the way of oncoming traffic. I actually heard this conversation between a cop and an UWSer.
Cop: “get out of the street!”
UWSer: “but then we won’t get good photos!”
