Marinara Pizza is preparing to open its second location on the Upper West Side.
The pizzeria, which describes itself as “a classic NYC slice joint with a modern twist,” first opened in the neighborhood in 2019 at 483 Amsterdam between 83rd and 84th streets. Marinara Pizza outposts can also be found on the Upper East Side, in Kips Bay, Midtown East and the East Village.

Thanks to a photo tip, ILTUWS has learned that the new Marinara Pizza location will be at 2578 Broadway between 97th and 98th streets, which was previously the home of Cafe Viva before it shut down in January 2023.
In addition to classic and speciality pies, Marinara – which earned a spot on our 2019 list of best slice shops – serves pastas, salads, heroes, starters like mozzarella sticks and meatballs, and classic Italian-American entrees like chicken and eggplant parm and chicken Francese.

They also offer unique items like their cauliflower crust, which was featured in Thrillist’s Fork Yeah video series in 2018.

Previously, Marinara Pizza’s location on 91st and Lexington was included on The Infatuation’s list of best restaurants on the Upper East Side. The feature called out the shop’s buffalo chicken and square, balsamic-glazed bruschetta slice.
We’ve reached out to Marinara Pizza for more info and a target opening date. We’ll update this article once we know more.
Great!
That’s good. We just lost Sforno.
They opened yesterday (July 12). Gave away free pizza. What a welcome.
