Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg has announced the indictments of 47-year-old Lashawn Mackey and 53-year-old Terrence Moore for the January murder of Maria Hernandez, a 74-year-old Upper West Sider who resided on West 83rd Street.

Hernandez was found dead in her apartment at 126 West 83rd Street on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at about 9:55 p.m. Her sister, Maria Terrero, discovered her with her hands and feet bound together behind her back.

Before the incident occurred, Mackey and Moore had allegedly entered the apartment building together and disabled the video security system.

According to court documents, Mackey – the second suspect to be arrested and charged – worked as a temporary super at the building.

Responding police officers found Hernandez face down “covered in strewn clothing” with lacerations across her body.

The two suspects had also left the building with two bags which had belonged to Hernandez.

Mackey is being charged with Murder in the First Degree; Moore is being charged with Murder in the Second Degree. Both men are also being charged with Aggravated Sexual Abuse, Robbery, and two counts of Burglary.
