Flowers
Flowers are a staple for almost every holiday, and Mothers Day on the Upper West Side is no exception. If you’re planning on giving your mother a bouquet, the highest rated flower shops on the UWS are Posies, The After Hours Flowers and Plant Shed.

Magnolia Bakery New York City: Mother’s Day Classic Cupcakes
Make a sweet treat with your mom this Mothers Day on the Upper West Side at Magnolia Bakery. Guests will learn how to ice and decorate the bakery’s cupcakes, and take home six confections that they created, as well as other gifts. The class takes place on May 8 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the bakery’s Upper West Side location on Columbus Avenue at 69th Street.
Theodore Roosevelt Park
Spend a relaxing Mothers Day on the Upper West Side among the flowers, like tulips and daffodils, and serenity of the Theodore Roosevelt Park. Adjacent to the park is the Museum of Natural History, so guests can visit the museum, as well, to spend an educational afternoon with their moms.
Central Park Zoo’s Mother’s Day Celebration
Kids age three to 10 can join their mothers at the Central Park Zoo to meet the zoo’s animals and their mothers. Guests can also expect to make a treat– for the animals and themselves, and a craft, and embark on a scavenger hunt. The celebration is $75 for one child and parent.
Children’s Museum of Manhattan
The Children’s Museum of Manhattan will be hosting two events on Mother’s Day: Mother’s Day Pillows and Mother’s Day Soap Making with Bubbly Bohemian, both of which will allow guests to make a special gift for their moms. The events will be held several times throughout the day on Sunday. Children age six and older are invited to attend, and admission is $12 for adults and children. The museum is located in The Tisch Building at 212 West 83rd Street.
