The windows have been lined with brown construction paper and the interior has been emptied out.

“We would like to thank you for the amazing care we have received since we opened our doors back in 2017,” a sign in the window of My Pie read. “Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close our store.”

The notice continued to explain that the owners tried their best to pull through, but between a pricey monthly rent and the business they lost throughout the pandemic, staying afloat was no longer on the table.

Thank you My Pie for providing excellent sustenance to the Upper West Side for nearly 5 years. My Pie was quick and clutch when I got off the subway at 72nd Street after a long day at work. As I would make my way home I’d wonder what I could do for dinner, and there you’d be, slinging me some Chicken Buffalo and a Pepperoni. Your Roman style thick crust, cut rectangularly, always helped me when I was looking for something of quality, quickly.

“It’s a shame,” said James Eliopoulos, 52, of West 71st Street. “I loved that the employees loved their own sweets and it showed when they recommended me something.”

Not only did My Pie serve excellent pizza, they also offered a tasty array of Italian desserts, imported directly from Milan. The Coppa Tiramisu, Coppa 3 Chocolate and Chocolate Mousse were indeed a triple threat to contemplate when it came complimenting your My Pie selection.

Juicy Cube, right next door to My Pie and run by the same owners, has also closed its doors. The Juicy Cube ‘Heart Beet’ juice was a consistent favorite, which I’d grab before a big skateboard ride around the city. I’d come to learn that beet juice increases blood flow and promotes oxygen uptake by your muscles. It aided me in a better performing ride.

Not all is lost, though: you can still find My Pie at 690 Lexington Avenue (at 57th Street) and Juicy Cube at 674 Lexington Avenue (at 56th Street).

Thank you for everything, My Pie and Juicy Cube. ‘Til next time.
