New Joseph Pharmacy Now Open

Joseph Pharmacy has opened their second location at 144 West 72nd Street, between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues. This space was previously occupied by Always Love, a drugstore which closed about two years ago after being in business for around 30 years. The new pharmacy is called Wellness Pharmacy, as they want to differentiate it from their original store.

The first and original Joseph Pharmacy location is at 216 West 72nd Street, between West End and Broadway (and right between the recently closed West Side Cafe and the upcoming 21-story condo at 214 West 72nd Street). This drugstore has been open since 1992 .

With so many small businesses closing, and old buildings getting knocked down to make way for new developments, it’s amazing to witness this independent drugstore not only thriving but actually expanding!

Joseph Pharmacy has always been a popular community business. They offer great service and have a very a loyal customer base. So that has obviously helped them prosper.

One Facebook reviewer praises them with these nice words:

I’ve lived all over the world and this is the best pharmacy I have ever dealt with. They will deliver rare medications — drugs that other pharmacies in Manhattan say will take weeks to obtain — on the same day or the next day at the latest. The employees are always courteous. Absolutely awesome — I never thought I’d find a place like this. Ten stars.

But they’ve also done a pretty good job adapting to the digital age. They’ve got a really sleek website. But also, for a neighborhood drugstore to have an Instagram and Twitter page is impressive! And it’s important for any small business to do like Joseph and adapt.
