The New York Post reported that the shooter worked at a computer repair store, Lincoln Business Machines, located at 111 West 68th Street (between Columbus Avenue and Broadway), and that he shot his former boss.

Following the shooting, the gunman ran int the 72nd Street A/B/C subway station at Central Park West, where he jumped down onto the tracks and briefly hid under an idling C train, said the police.

Multiple videos, like this one from The New York Times, show subway riders being instructed to lie on the ground while police searched for the shooter. Additional photos were shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Some train riders were told to evacuate, and many experienced delays yesterday morning. “During the chaos, the gunman continued on down the tunnel to the next station.”

The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was treated for a minor injury and is currently in stable condition.

NYPD officials revealed the identity of the suspect this afternoon. Eduardo Diaz, a 42-year-old resident of Queens, was arrested on Friday at 11:15 a.m. on the Upper West Side. He’s facing charges of attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a loaded weapon.
