A Brand New Menu, Free Cocktails, And Perhaps A Celebrity Sighting!

The menu at Olma Restaurant & Bar, located at 420 Amsterdam Avenue (corner of 80th), completely changed this past May. The new chef specializes in Latin-inspired seafood and meat dishes, and while the restaurant is still known for their caviar, there is so much more to enjoy. Read more about the new menu and get yourself a free cocktail with your meal (find out how at the bottom of the article)!

The new menu at Olma offers creative twists on some of your favorite classics. I recently enjoyed the Al Pastor Taco, Peruvian Calamari and their popular Surf and Turf, all of which were eaten swiftly and completely.

The Al Pastor taco was the first thing I consumed. The wonderfully tender pork was presented in a soft shell with avocado, salsa and chipotle sauce.

I then moved on to the Peruvian Calamari, which is made with purple corn meal and tamarind sauce, and is truly like no calamari you have had. It offers the perfect mix of sweet and savory, and like the taco, was eaten with tremendous speed.

The Cocktails

Olma is an awesome place to drink. A famous mixologist, Artemio Vasquez, is present every Friday and Saturday, and you’ll definitely want to see this guy in action.

Here he is making his signature “Poquito Picante”, a mix of cilantro, cucumber, lemon, jalapeño infused Cointreau and Tanqueray gin!

Cocktails are just $9 during happy hour (and you can get beers for $5 and wine for $7). Happy hour is from 4 to 8pm every day.

The drink menu spans far beyond cocktails, and is massive, with tons of wines and spirits and a generous list of beers on tap and in the bottle.

The food, drinks and atmosphere give Upper West Siders a reason to keep coming back to Olma Restaurant & Bar.

Plus, you never know who you might run into (Jennifer Lawrence is also a fan)!
