Over a hundred juniors at an Upper West Side private school recently sat through a class called “Pornography Literacy: An intersectional focus on mainstream porn,” a lesson they were not allowed to opt out of, the NY Post first reported.

Justine Ang Fonte – who is also the director of health and wellness at Dalton on the Upper East Side – taught the class to the sixteen and seventeen year old students of Columbia Grammar and Prep, located at 5 West 93rd Street.

The slide-show presentation included an explicit list of porn’s most searched keywords including “anal” and “gangbang,” a summary of genres including “incest-themed” and “kink and BDSM,” and an image of a nude, hogtied woman with a caption reading “Art or Porn?”

Some of the students viewed the slides on their laptops while congregating in the school’s gym, though most of the high schoolers accessed the class via Zoom. This is apparently how parents, who pay $47,000 per year for their kids to attend the school, first discovered the class (as they reportedly weren’t given notice beforehand, nor were the students). “None of the parents knew this was planned. We were completely left in the dark. It makes us wonder what else the school is up to,” one mom told the Post.

The virtual setting also made the explicit presentation go viral among NYC’s teen circles.

COLUMBIA GRAMMAR & PREP SUBPOENAED IN TRUMP INVESTIGATION

One student told the Post that they “were supposed to answer questions about the porn stuff in the Zoom chat but we were all side-chatting in group chats and tons of kids thought it was so dumb that they sent the link to their friends all over the city and they were all logging on with the password.”

Another female student seemed to find the presentation unnecessary, saying that “Everyone knows about porn” and that “the worst part of it was that it took place not long before the AP tests and I had to miss both my AP classes for this.”

Neither Fonte nor Columbia Prep replied to the Post for comment, though several parents and additional students did speak with them. We’ve reached out to Columbia Prep for comment.
